Closing: 26th of June 2011, Pop-up gallery above VIBE Bar (London)

Are shoes one of your “guilty pleasure¨? Then you probably have one of those.

Many were literally bowled over by the return of Dr. Martens couple of years ago. For some people, a “screaming” reminder of the fashion experimentation of their teenage years, that we usually make fun of. Shortly after, when it was obvious that the shoes were in fact, very trendy, everyone stopped joking about them, bought a pair and became addicted (well we still make jokes about Buffalo´s!).

Now, even in new form, Dr. Martens were the focal point of a newly passed group exhibition at Brick Lane.  10 pairs were supplied by Doctor Martens, re-designed by the exhibition artists and sold on the behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. Only few pair were left when Konsthopp was there.

It was a truly broad-based exhibition in general, displaying unique oils, aerosol works, ink drawings, urban glass sculpture and limited edition prints. And last but not least, a few colorful pair of the “eternal” Dr. Martens.

The conceptual artist, Ben Oakley curated the show but he also runs “The Ben Oakley Gallery” in Greenwich (London).

Date: 17th – 26th of June 2011

So we were strolling around SoFo the other day, checking out some exhibitions when we stumbled across a window at Kocksgatan, with this poster that really caught our attention.

When entering the shop we discovered that inside is a tiny exhibition space with some beautiful things for sale; books, posters and cards among others, produced by national and international print designers.

According to the owner, “Talent Gallery” provides graphic designers and illustrators the opportunity to both display and retail their work as well as to build and entertain a professional network. It was opened in March 2011 with the hope to bring more general attention to visual communication but also to add an emerging part to the gallery scene in Stockholm and abroad.

For further information about Gallery Talent, check out its website here.

And one last thing:

If you know about other Stockholm based galleries that we’re missing out on or have any tips or advice on exciting art events over the summer please let us know by sending us an e-mail. We are more than happy to hear about any comments!

Have a great day people/

Vernissage: 28th of April 2011, Art Concept Store (Stockholm)

“Screened” is an exhibition by the young artist Cecilia Bivald were she combines painting, print and light installations to create a work of aspects. According to the artist statement it’s an aspect were the anonymous meets the personal and the subtle encounters direct attack . We are all individuals but for others we are just one of many “faceless” people that one passes every day.

Cecilia has created an exhibition full of feelings and impressions using a beautiful mix of techniques and material merged with engrossing aspect of individuality and anonymity. The exhibition will be on-going until the 8th of May and the art works are for sale.
