NÁND / CLOSE

Vernissage: 5th of May 2012, Hlaðan (Vogar)

Sisters share the scent and smells — the feel of a common childhood

Hildur the sisters union opened the exhibition “Close” recently at Hladan. The title refers to the sisters’ relationship and the relationship between the viewer and the artists but the artists; Gunnhildur and Brynhildur are sisters by blood.

Their close relationship reflected in every corner of the exhibition. The atmosphere was therefore very intimate and homelike. Guests could participate and interact by touching, smelling and talking.

The exhibition is inspired by the sister´s surreal ideas where adventures can take place. Mannequins become furniture, fury kitchen utensils contain poems and clothes become art.

Our readers should know Gunnhildur Thordardottir from her previous exhibition “Losun / Emission.” Her sister; Brynhildur Thordardottir designs unique wool clothes and other items under the name; Lúka Art and Design.

I´m going to end this entry with this poet from the exhibition:

The sisters

They both laughed resounding and uncontained laugher

Which echoes in memories

They had mysterious smiles and sometimes sad, big eyes

Their friends believed they look liked big birds

They loved their family above all

They were one man´s wives

Traveling in the blue sky

They wanted to go untrodden paths

They loved the arts and are still laughing
